Optimizing Website Load Speed

Recently, Google released the news regarding the inclusion of website speed as one of the parameters for website search engine ranking. This means that websites that load up faster than others have the chance to rank higher than the other websites. Along with unique Meta titles and Meta descriptions, having a faster webpage load time can also help your website land on the top spot, which is supposed to be a good thing. However, according to the official Google blog, there is little to no changes in the ranking after implementing this new parameter.

Optimizing Load Speed

The addition of site speed as a parameter for search engine ranking is good. Unfortunately, not all bloggers and webmasters are aware of site optimization. This situation can lead them missing their site’s search engine ranking completely, which is not a good thing.

However, if you intend to keep your site’s ranking as high as possible without flunking this new parameter here are some things you can do to make your website load faster than the rest.

  • Convert multiple images into big image using CSS Sprites. Using CSS Sprites can help reduce the number of concurrent connections and it will make your site load up faster.
  • Reducing your image size is also a great way to increase your site speed. Huge images take awhile to lead. Smaller images load faster. If you keep your images small enough to see then your site will load faster that having gigantic images.
  • Your site speed can also increase if you sign up with a web hosting company that has a fast server. Web server plays a big role in your site speed. If your dedicated hosting company has, a slow server the tendency is your site will load longer. However, if you signed up with a web hosting company that has a faster web server then your site will load up faster.
  • The cache system can also help your site speed. Cache system is a system that stores data for future use. Retrieving data from the cache is much faster since it is already stored.

Site speed may not affect search engine ranking greatly. However, if you keep your site speed faster than usual more people will come and visit your site, which increases your site’s popularity.
